Mom and dad took me to the pool for the first time. I am still getting used to the whole water thing. Watching some of the other kids at the wadding pool i started to see how much fun the water is.
Since mom is getting ready to go back to work, my parents thought it would be a good idea for mom to start getting accustomed to me being at school (aka daycare). Camp Amgen seems like a great place. I think I am going to make some friends and the teachers thought I was the most adorable happy baby they have seen. I only did a half day because I think that was all mom could handle. She seemed to keep it together while she was in my classroom, but I think she may have had a hard time once she left.
Dad & I did some male bonding for Father's day. Mom made us breakfast and dad & I kicked back on the couch. I got my dad a pair of new slippers. I have some big shoes to grow into.
Today I extended my family circle and become a blessed child of God. Mom and dad had me baptised at the same church mommy was baptised. I had only gotten home from the night before from my travels back East so I was a little tired. When the priest started to pour the water over my head, I began to squirm. At the part of the Holy Ghost, I gave a strong kick that lined my face directly under the water and drenched me. I was not happy and let everyone know. Jaimi & Michael Keller are my Godparents who are now responsible for my religious up bringing (Good Luck).
Did you know that I have a Great, Great Grandma?! I do. Uncle Dave took us to see Grandma Laura and my Great, Great Aunt Edna Mae. I am so lucky not only to have such a large and wonderful family, but to have so many generations that I can love.
Here is a picture of me, Grandma Beth & Great, Great Grandma Laura
Since I was already on the East coast, I continued North to visit more family in Syracuse. The trip was a little hectic since it was only mom and me flying solo. BTW...i do not recommend US Airways and the Washington Reagan airport for moms traveling alone.
My great Uncle Dave and Aunt Diana, live near Syracuse. They took me to Camp in the Adirondacks. I got to hike and took my 1st boat ride. My aunt and uncle took exceptional care of mom and I. They had a welcome party the first night we arrived. I was able to meet my cousin Erin and her husband Matt. Plus Grandma Beth's friend, Jan, brought her daughter and grand daughter too.
While in North Carolina, the family and I thought it would be nice to do the Race for the Cure 5K. Mom and I did the walk in memory of Great Grandma Ver Halen and Great Aunt Margo. It was crowded with 20,000 participants, so I choose to sleep during the walk while mom pushed me around the course. The family had a great idea that I know mom appreciated... load all the goody bags and extra stuff in my stroller. I know mom could feel that extra burn during the uphill portions.
Meeting new family is great. My Aunt Veronica, Uncle Dave and cousins Jennifer and Danielle kept me entertained. They played with me on the floor, held me to help me fall asleep and gave me lots of love. I got to see that I can have a big party like Jennifer when I graduate from school.
I took my first airplane ride. Mom and I got on a plane to go visit my Aunt Veronica , Uncle Dave and cousins Jennifer and Danielle. Since Jennifer was graduating high school and mom is not back to work yet, this seemed like a good time to take a trip.
Check me out... mom put me on my surf board to play while she was packing our bags. I tried to time my surprise for when momentarily had her back turned and then...I ROLLED ON TO MY TUMMY! Mom told dad but thought it was just an accident so when mom put me on my
back 3 more times I had to show her I knew what I was doing. Unfortunately the video camera was already packed in our suitcase so here are some still shots of me in action. When dad gets home we will capture it on video.
Well this weekend marked my 4 month birthday. Check out how big I am. My play time surf board shows I am at least 25". If you count my mohawk, it is at least another inch. We will get the official size when mommy and I get back from our trip back east in 2 weeks.
Besides my gym workouts to strenghten my overall core and exhaust me for bedtime, mom & dad have been concentrating on my tummy time. Although this is not one of my favorite positions at this time, I am getting stronger and getting closer to the milestone they call "rolling over". I am fairly mobile already scooting around on my back. But I have already scoped out some interesting things in the room that I would not mind checking out further once I am able to roll over and get there faster than mom and dad. Next week I am off to visit family on the East Coast so you will here about my trip when I get back.
I apologize for the lack of postings in the past few weeks. Mom has kept me busy meeting more of her friends & taking me out to new places. She has been exposing me to culture...horticulture to be exact. I went to the LA Arboretum with Jaimi and Michael and their kids. We also took Grandma Ver Halen to a belated Mother's day at Descanso Gardens. Thank goodness grandma did not have any pruners with her...she was trying to take some plant clippings to add to her garden. I also got to have my first encounter with some animals - a peacock and goose. I can't wait until we get to go to the zoo!
